Michael Haley, Vice-President Massachuissetts

Captain Haley was appointed a temporary correction officer in February 1991, and a permanent officer in 1992.

In 1997 Mike became the first Chief Steward for the Massachusetts Corrections Officers Union at the Worcester County Sheriffs Office. As Chief Steward Mike assisted with the formation of the MCOFU PAC and became active on correction officer issues on Beacon Hill in Boston as well as national issues on Capitol Hill in Washington DC.        

During this same time period Sheriff John “Mike” Flynn promoted Michael to Sergeant.
           

In 2001 Michael received his certificate in Corrections as well as his Degree in Criminal Justice.

Michael was appointed to the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee at Mt. Wachusett Community College in 2004 and serves in that capacity today.

Michael was promoted to Lieutenant in June of 2003 and attained the rank of Captain in 2007. As a member of the Superior Officers Association at Worcester County Sheriffs Office Captain Haley has assumed the role of Chief Steward and Legislative Liason.

This past year 2010 Captain Haley has seen the culmination of 13 years labor in the formation with other members of ACO, the Massachusetts Association of Correction Officers, which enables all the county correction officers to unite under one umbrella for the betterment of all correction officers throughout the state of Massachusetts.
